How to Set up Neat Bar on WiFi – An Ultimate Guide
So, you have just got yourself a brand new neat bar but don't want to use Ethernet to connect to the network – what should you do?
No two meeting spaces are the same. Additionally, no one likes their office full of wirings. So, it's reasonable to ask, can I use neat bar on WiFi? Fortunately, neat bar can be used on both Ethernet and WiFi. Here is a complete guide for you to set up your neat bar on WiFi to get rid of a messy workplace:
Power Up Your Neat Devices
First of all, you need to power up your neat devices. When you purchase the full bundle, you usually get two boxes. One box contains neat pad, while the other one includes a neat bar and all the necessary mounting equipment, including wires, PoE adapter and installation guide.
You can follow the following methods to power up your neat devices:
Neat Bar
Connect your neat bar to the TV screen and AC power using an HDMI cable and power cable, respectively. If you want to use your neat bar on WiFi, make sure it is not physically connected to an Ethernet cable. If your device is connected to Ethernet, it will always use Ethernet to connect to the network!
Neat Pad
If your neat pad has a built-in PoE option, you can simply connect it to the Ethernet cable to connect to the internet. Otherwise, you'll need to use the PoE injector to power up your device.
Setup Scenario
The next step is to pick a setup scenario. During this step, you usually get three options. If you want to use your neat pad as a controller for your neat bar, you can select the "Set Up Neat Bar with Controller" options.
On the other hand, select the other two options as preferred if you desire to use your neat pad as a standalone device: as a scheduling display or a controller for a third-party zoom room!
Mounting Configuration
While setting up your neat bar, you get three mounting options, including:
- Wall Mount – Install your device on the wall. You can either snap it on the wall or mount it above or below your desired screen.
- Screen Mount – Neat also allows you to mount your device directly on the screen. For this approach, you can install your device either above or below your screen.
- Table Mount – If you don't want to mount your neat bar to a wall or screen, you can simply install it on the table using the stands available in the box.
Once you select a mounting configuration, the setup wizard will help you with this process.
Connect Neat Bar to the WiFi
To pair up your neat devices, you must have a stable internet connection. For this approach, you have three possible deployment options for neat pad and neat bar, such as:
- Both neat pad and neat bar connected over WiFi
- Both neat pad and neat bar connected over Ethernet
- Neat pad on a wired network and neat bar on WiFi
Keep in mind that if your neat bar is connected to Ethernet physically, you won’t be able to use WiFi on your device. Therefore, unplug your Ethernet before connecting your neat bar to the WiFi network. Also, both your neat devices must be connected to the same subnet to share multicast packets from one device to other.
WiFi Configuration
Follow this guide to connect your neat bar to the WiFi:
- Connect your devices to power sources and external display devices
- Pick your preferred language and choose “continue”
- If your neat pad is connected to WiFi, you’ll see the following screen
- Select the “Connect Using WiFi” option
- Select your WiFi network and use valid credentials to connect; click "continue"
- Choose your time zone and click on “continue”
Again, to pair up your devices, your neat bar and neat pad must be connected to the same subnet. Plus, your neat bar shouldn't be connected to an Ethernet cable if you want to use your device on the WiFi network.
Select Your Neat Bar
Once both devices are connected to a stable network, you'll see your neat bar's serial number on the screen. If your screen does not detect neat devices, make sure your neat bar is connected to HDMI 1 port.
Afterward, your device will start to download the necessary software updates. Do not unplug your neat bar or neat pad while they update. Afterward, launch your zoom room and sign in with your zoom account or activation code to make calls and join meetings.
Final Word
Before investing your money into a video conferencing device, you should do your homework and learn everything about that certain product. One of the most common questions you should ask is, can you use your selected product on WiFi, or does it only support Ethernet?
Luckily, if you are investing your money into a neat bar, you don't have to worry about connectivity. This device is compatible with both wired and wireless networks. All neat devices, including neat bar and neat pad, can be connected to the internet using WiFi and Ethernet.
For WiFi, you must disconnect the Ethernet cable from your neat device. Otherwise, it will only use the wired network. Plus, both your neat pad and neat bar must be connected to the same subnet to share multicast packets from one device to other!
