Whether in the huddle room, meeting, conference or training room: the intuitive wireless presenting and conferencing solutions create more space for smart decisions, inspiring lectures, and creative ideas. Airtame and Barco Clickshare are excellent wireless solutions with almost everything you need to hold a meeting. Both are popular and two top contenders for choosing a powerful screen-sharing system.
Clickshare is a long-lasting, agnostic room system that meets the requirements of mid and large enterprises for wireless presentation and conferencing. Airtame, on the other hand, is an affordable app-based presentation solution that is convenient and simple to use with flexibility.
Both solutions provide a physical product (the receiver) that connects to an HDMI display. A single click on the Clickshare button is all it takes to start a presentation or stream content. The biggest advantages of the Barco solution include high-security standards, a long transmission range, and cross-device compatibility. At the same time, the biggest advantages of the Airtame solution include cross-device and cross-platform compatibility, good Full HD image transmission quality and the option of using it for digital signage.
Clickshare C-10 vs Airtame features comparison.
Barco Clickshare has been the industry's ultimate presenting and conferencing system. It is a powerful screen-sharing solution for education as well as business. But Airtame is now often suggested as an alternative. So, here's a comprehensive assortment of options based on features.
Clickshare provides free firmware updates and complimentary management tools like XMS Cloud Management Platform, which updates and manages Clickshare devices remotely and conveniently. With such reliability, customers can enjoy an easy installation of software updates and improve their meeting room usage with useful analytics.
At the same time, Airtame focuses on the opportunities for optimised workflows rather than on seamless deployment and management of installs. It also offers Airtame Cloud and a mass deployment installer. The Airtame R&D team has the highest focus on reliability and quality to sure that their investment is both long-term and futureproof.
Barco strongly believes in the reliability of its products. It offers a five-year coverage on all its Clickshare models for wireless presentation and conferencing. Whereas Airtame offers a two-year warranty in Europe and only a one-year warranty on other continents. And no opportunity for extension.
More and more organisations are prohibiting users from downloading software on their computers for security reasons. Thus, making it impossible for guests to join the conversation. So, if you’ve guests to contribute, it’s important that they feel at ease and can give their all. Therefore, with Clickshare, your guests get the same experience as your employees. Just ‘plug and play the Clickshare Button and get fast, wireless, hassle-free collaboration.
But with Airtame, guests must download an app on their laptop before participating. The app does not require admin privileges, but the users will be asked for firewall access.
Clickshare was the first wireless presentation product on the market for screen sharing. But video streaming is not ideal because there’s no optimised video mode for a smooth video stream.
In contrast, Airtame offers a streaming option that is optimised for video. It, however, introduces a buffer of 1 second between your computer and the Airtame-powered screen. But this will make your video runs smoothly, and the image and audio will sync. You can also enable its optimised video streaming by switching audio on/off during the streaming sessions.
Way of sharing
Clickshare consists of a base unit connected to the meeting room display. It offers a Button and an App to share content or a combination for a rich sharing experience. However, it requires a device plugged into your computer.
Whereas, Airtame uses software and your inbuilt WiFi chip to connect to the screen. It is ideal for users who do not want to plug a device into their computers. The best thing about Airtame is that it will work smoothly no matter what plugs your computer hooks up to. With it, you can also move around more freely without hanging anything with your computer.
Clickshare’s wallpaper feature offers pre-loaded images to display on the TV/projector screen while no one is sharing to the screen. You can also use it as digital signage by uploading your custom images by logging into the Base Unit’s interface.
Similarly, the Airtame Homescreen lets you show default or custom images, dashboards, and websites. Airtame’s Homescreen offers four overlays: Guide left, Guide, Minimal, and None. Guide and Guide left shows a box of customisable text that instructs new users on how to stream to the Airtame.
For mobile users, the Clickshare App allows for mirroring static documents such as PDFs, Word documents, or images. Full-screen mirroring, including video streaming, can also be done on iOS and Android devices. But if you don’t have Barco’s CSE-200 model, using Clickshare’s WiFi to stream from mobile could be inconvenient. It also means you will need to switch back and forth between WiFi networks on your mobile device.
On the other hand, Airtame’s mobile mirroring is very limited. The Airplay iOS mirroring is still in beta, so the functionality is very basic. Therefore, mobile mirroring for Android is not available. However, the Airtame app is available for iOS and Android devices but only allows mirroring static content.
Managing multiple devices
Both Clickshare and Airtame offer remote management tools, although slightly different.
Clickshare has the Clickshare Collaboration Management Suite (CMGS). It helps you monitor and manage settings, wallpaper, and so forth.
Whereas Airtame offers remote management with free Airtame Cloud, which allows you to manage and monitor all Airtame devices from a browser on your computer.
Clickshare offers complete integrity, confidentially, and availability of data. It even offers three levels of security to cater to the needs of every business. With an ISO27001 certification, Clickshare offers the possibility to run in standalone or connected mode.
At the same time, the Airtame stream runs on your network and makes the stream unencrypted. It relies on the encryption of your network. It means if someone is already on your network, they could pose a threat and compromise security.
Multiple users and multiple screens
Clickshare’s top feature is the ability for multiple users to share the same TV screen. Up to 4 people can share their computer screen on the TV simultaneously, and 8-25 people can connect to Clickshare, depending on the model.
But with Airtame, only one user can stream to the screen simultaneously. However, you can stream your computer screen to multiple screens, as long as each has an Airtame plugged in and is connected to the same WiFi network.
